Creating Your Vision Board
2009.06.08 09:10:24

  vision board

Creating Your Vision Board

Manifest your dreams!  So, it sounds a little cheesy, I know.  But I truly believe that dreams can come true and if you focus on those goals you want to achieve, you will.
A vision board is a visual tool, a collage of the things that you want (to attract) in your life.  You can use clippings of magazines, photos, stickers, anything you want to be creative.

The purpose is to help you focus on your dreams and what you want out of life.  It is used to activate the law of attraction to begin to magnetize things from your laboratory (your world) to enable your dreams to come true!!  The law of attraction states that we will attract anything we give attention to.

You do not have to be “creative” or “artistic” to make a vision board.  You do however must let your mind explore to greatest lengths to create what you want to attract.  You can use pictures and words and phrases to increase the emotions within you.  Use colors that are appealing to you, because the sight of your vision board should make you happy and turn up your energy level!  Place all your clippings in any way you like.  Use glue, paperclips, gum , anything to attach the clipping to your poster board or paper.

The next thing is to place your vision board where you will see it most often!  The more you see your vision board, the more you will keep focused on your goals and dreams.  However, if it is in a public place, know that others will see it.  If you fear judgment from others, place it in a private place.

 vision board

How to get started:
Brainstorm what you want
If you could be anything, what would you want to be?
If you could do anything, what would it be?
What would you like to improve in your life?
Are there people you’d like to attract?
If you could live anywhere, where would you want to live?
Is there something you have always wanted in your life?
If you have always wanted to work somewhere or do a different line of work, where or what would it be?

Dream your dream!  It’s just another step to create your Well-laboratory, Well-world!!!!

Finding My Marbles
2009.05.05 09:10:24

  flower

Book by Clare Sente & Troy Adams

This sweet story takes place in Marbles, a peaceful coffee shop in Chicago, and the place for the best cup of hot chocolate.

The story unfolds 7 tenants that help Monica refocus her energy to her purpose.  She begins her journey in the JZ (joyless zone), a funk.  She has lost her marbles!
Gratitude is the first lesson in “finding her marbles”.  After being in such a strut and wanting to get through the grocery store within minutes, a little boy caught Monica’s attention – almost as if time stopped.  This little boy graciously gave one of his newly purchased marbles to the cashier.  Seeing this act of gratitude take place, Monica had the sudden urge to buy marbles.  She placed a few of them in her pocket to help remind her of gratitude.

Monica’s coincidental, intentional meetings of the most delightful characters teach her how to find daily joy, turn down the noise, create a vision board, connect with support, do something new, and give back.  These meetings and lessons learned from CiCi, Earl, Marnie, and Joyce refocused Monica to enjoy fresh cut flowers, take walks outside, and enjoy inspirational literature!

Finding My Marbles is a short, quick read, but the lessons are deeply engrained.
Visit www.findingmymarbles.com to learn more.
Create a Well-LABB by reading Finding My Marbles, and you’ll soon be on a new journey with the following lessons:
1. gratitude
2. find daily joy
3. turn down the music
4. create a vision board
5. connect with support
6. do something new
7. give back

Creating Goodness Through Water
2009.04.10 09:10:24

  water

"The life you live and the world you live in are up to you.”  - Masaru Emoto

Dr. Emoto begins his first book The Hidden Messages in Water, by asking the reader to evaluate his/her life.  He asks, “Are you happy?”, “Do you have a sense of peace in your heart?”, and “Do you have a feeling of security about the future?”  All are very vibrant and real questions, some of which people do not take time to reflect.  After reading those questions, there was no way I was going to put this book down!  It was a great way to grab my attention and apparently just what I needed to keep reading.

Our bodies are approximately 70% water when we are adults.  We begin as a fetus as 99% water; then when we are born, we are about 90% water.  Even though our percentage of water declines as we age, throughout our lives we are mostly water.

Dr Emoto’s study consists of labeling or talking/chanting to water, freezing it and when the water is crystallized, photograph it.
His findings are amazing.
When water is exposed to Mozart or Beethoven, the water crystals are delicate and elegant.
When labeled “Thank You,” the crystals have such lovely detail.
When the water was exposed to heavy metal music or the words “You Fool,” the crystals were fragmented and deformed.
The most beautiful crystal was created when the words “love” and “gratitude” were labeled on the water.  And Masaru Emoto believes these two precious words serve as a guide for our world.

His study has proceeded, to prove the power of words.  Vibrations of good words have positive effects on water, and our world.

If our bodies are composed of 70% water, and if words and thoughts have the power to do that to water, imagine what they do to our bodies?!

Remember when we make a choice, we fill the water within us with that energy.  Radiating positive words and thoughts will keep the water within you pure and beautiful.

Splash of Spring

  kayak Boulder Reservoir

The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind.
- William James (1842 - 1910)

This past weekend Colorado was blessed with some highs in the 70s…
I had the pleasure of kayaking on the Boulder Reservoir, a FTE (first time ever) for me.  Well, I’ve kayaked before, but not on the Boulder Rez.  The sun was shining and lots of folks were taking advantage of the heat wave.

When learning how to kayak, the instructor suggested that the first thing you do when balancing yourself into the kayak is rock right to left, with arms holding the paddle above your head, to get an idea of how far you can tip to each side, before filling the personal boat with pond water.  So, that’s what I do each time.  Each time I reacquaint myself with this, it feels a little unsteady, but fun, like dancing, once you feel more balanced.

The skill of kayaking can be learned pretty quickly.  It’s very relaxing floating atop the water and just being in the great outdoors, soaking up the sunshine and taking in the fresh air.  But it can also be very challenging, due to the wind and if there is a current you have to fight.

The greatest benefits are
1. It is fun and challenging
2. You can either paddle with others or go solo
3. Calories can be burned (if going 5 mph, you can burn about 400 calories/hour)
4. It’s a great exercise for your back, chest, stomach, and arms.  So, you build and tone your upper body muscles.
5. You get to be in the great outdoors!

A Wellness Celebration – Ah Live Rally!

I had the great opportunity to be a part of the first International Wellness Coordinators’ Conference, held last week (March 11-13) in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Dr. Jeff Haebig was the energizing factor at this conference, and I believe the work he does helps to promote a well laboratory and life.

Jeff has been a Rock n’ Role-model for body/brain-enhanced living and learning for 25 years, as a wellness promoter.  He is the founder and president of Wellness Quest, and has co-authored a series of Health Care-toon books and calendars, which promote wellness through humor.

He created a cheer for the event, which was videotaped.  It will soon appear… stay tuned!

Appreciative Inquiry 101
2009.03.09 00:00:00

Your vision with impact the universe

The present never changes.  Each moment is like a snowflake, unique, unspoiled, unrepeatable, and can be appreciated in its surprisingness.  - Gail Sheehy

What is Appreciative Inquiry (A.I.)?
A.I. is an approach to organizational change that involves the analysis of positive and successful operations.  There is a four-D cycle that identifies problems, analyzes causes, search for solutions, and develops an action plan.  Discover – Dream – Design – Destiny.
• Uncovers the best in people.
• Focuses on positive change.
• Is being in the moment and mindful, not task driven and caught up in the day-to-day “doing”.
• Makes all things possible!

Questions to drive A.I. conversations:
Discovery –
 What energizes you?
What are five gratitude moments in your life?
Who are the key supportive people in your life, and what do they provide for you?
What do you want more of in your life?
Dream –
What would you like to see yourself doing three years from now?
What area of your life would you like to positively impact and improve in the next 6 months?
Design –
What are 3 small actions you could take in the next 2 weeks to begin moving forward in any of the areas identified?
Who can support you, as you take action to making these positive changes?
Destiny –
What do you see in yourself and where you are going in life?
What do you know to be true about yourself?

When asking some of these questions at the Positive Psychology Forum, during lunch with a few new friends, I can’t explain how powerful these questions were!  We went from “where are you from” and “what do you do” type-questions, to “Explain your perfect day!”  The questions were very insightful, and I learned things about people that I may never have known, otherwise.  You could see people light up when they were talking about things that “really” mattered.  People enjoy telling their story and listening to others’.

So, next time you are visiting with your friends or family or at a business luncheon, I encourage you to mix it up.  Instead of asking the surface-level questions of life, ask one of the above questions.

Creating & Living Your Personal Mission
2009.02.27 00:00:00

  Opportunity Awaits!

Great ability develops and reveals itself increasingly with every new assignment.  - Baltasar Gracian

Creating and Living Your Personal Mission
Presentation by LABB February 14, 2009 Sedona, AZ

What is a Personal Mission Statement?
It is a description of what you’d like to focus on in your life, what you’d like to accomplish, and who you want to become.  It is a way to focus your energy, actions, behaviors, and decisions towards the things that are important to you.  And the coolest thing: it’s personal!  You have the vastness to create!

Why creating a Personal Mission Statement is Important?
It provides a focus to who you are and is a proactive approach to achieve what you want in life.  Like the domino effect, once you have something to work towards and have set an intention, your spirit will evolve and the universe will help provide you with what you need.
“If you don’t set your goals based upon your mission statement, you may be climbing the ladder of success only to realize, when you get to the top, you’re on the wrong building.” – Stephen Covey

Guidelines for creating your Personal Mission Statement:
• Keep it Simple, yet
• Open enough, so it’s all-encompassing and will guide you in your everyday life.
• Focus on the Positive
• Include positive behaviors, traits, and values (to create a list of your strengths, visit http://www.viastrengths.org/VIAClassification/tabid/56/Default.aspx
• Let it shine with emotion and passion

Begin writing with inspiration.  What motivates you to begin a task?  Music?  Talking it through with a friend or colleague?  Does a certain color get you in the brainstorming mode?  Quotes?

Writing your Personal Mission Statement
• List values or character traits/strengths (what are your unique gifts – how do you provide good to the world)
• List what you want to achieve or become; have a goal in mind

Personal Mission Statement Templates:
• My purpose is to express my gifts/traits by how you plan to do so.
• To what you want to achieve, do, or become so that reasons why it is important.  I will do this by specific behaviors or actions you will use to get there.
• To develop and cultivate the qualities of 2-3 values/character traits that I admire in a person of influence in your life so that why you want to develop these qualities.
• To live each day with 2-3 values or principles so that what living by these values will give you.  I will do this by specific behaviors you will use to live by these values.
• To appreciate and enjoy thing you want to appreciate and enjoy more by what you can do to appreciate and enjoy these things.

Congratulations!  You’ve created your PMS (Personal Mission Statement)

How you can incorporate this into your everyday life:
• Keep it in a visible place.
• Share it with your support network.
• As your life evolves, revive it.

“Make your life a mission – not an intermission.”  – Arnold Glasgow

How you can spread goodness
2009.01.29 09:10:24

  balance

Do your little bit of good where you are: it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.  - Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Well-LABB believes we are all connected; that each thing we do can, and will, affect another thing or person.  This will, in turn, affect the universe - very much like the domino or butterfly effects.

Domino Effect - is a chain of reaction that occurs when a small change causes a similar change nearby, and so on in a linear sequence.

Butterfly Effect - is a phrase that encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory.  Small variation of the initial condition of a dymanic system may produce large variations in the long term behavior of the system.  A butterfly's wings might create a tiny change in the atmosphere that may ultimately alter the path of a tornado or delay, accelerate, or even prevent the occurrence of a tornado in a certain location.  The flapping of wings prepresents a small change in the initial condition of the system, which causes a chain of events leading to large-scale alterations of events.

Source: www.wikipedia.org

Like an act of kindness, a selfless act carried out to either assist of cheer up another individual, you can spread a kind word of goodness.  Take the time to let someone know that you noticed the good they did or the positive effect they created, or just tell them how much they mean to you.  You may never know the great effect you can make on another person's life, until you let them know how you feel about them.  A good start, if you have jumbled thoughts or don't know where to begin, is to bullet-point all the great things you love or cherish about that person.  Or, you can begin brainstorming by writing "I am a better person, because you are in my life..."  This will allow your mind flow with all the good that person carries.  I encourage you to try it, and let me know what happens!!!

The Goodnesses that Occur When Wondering About Life
2009.01.19 19:10:24

The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity.  The creative mind plays with objects it loves.  - Carl Jung

I have been on the job hunt for a good few months...  After a short time of boredom, a few moves to different houses, and a wondering of “what’s next”, I decided it’s time to dream.  And most importantly, make those dreams come True-to-Life!

I have always wanted to do what I enjoy, with my education and experiences in business management, higher education/student development (which can be broadened into personal development), wellness, and quality of life.  Of course, through life, keeping my mind open, I learn something new daily.  Therefore, I am working on my LIFE degree.

Those combined with my love for being creative, I’ve created Well-LABB.
My photos (taken around the world) are captures of how I see genuine “in-the-moment” goodness.  Aligned with wellness and positive messages, I have created the first ever line of wellness greeting cards.
